AFC Affiliate MembershipThe Association of Florida Colleges (AFC) is the professional association for Florida’s 28 public colleges, their Boards, employees, retirees, and associates. The mission of the Association is to actively promote, democratically represent, support, provide professional development, and serve the individual members and institutions in their endeavors to provide their students and the citizens of Florida with the best possible comprehensive college educational system. The colleges in the Florida College System support the work of the Association through institutional dues and there are more than 5000 individual college employees and retiree members. Signed into law by Florida’s governor on January 21, 2016, the Florida Postsecondary Comprehensive Transition Program Act (the Act) (FS 1004.6495) established the Florida Center for Students with Unique Abilities at the University of Central Florida (the Center) and charged the Center with managing the Florida Postsecondary Comprehensive Transition Program (FPCTP) application and approval process. The Act also established criteria for FPCTP approval, scholarship awards for eligible students to attend approved programs, grant awards to promote new program development and existing program enhancements, and accountability requirements associated with these opportunities.
The Institute for Strategic Policy Solutions (ISPS) at St. Petersburg College aims to ENHANCE understanding, EDUCATE students and citizens, and ENGAGE conversation in support of effective, solution-oriented public policy. Housed on SPC’s Seminole Campus, ISPS provides a forum to explore local, state, national, and international issues.
