Community Service

The AFC’s history is steeped in providing service to the communities its member institutions serve. In 1971, when the Association was established, 28 service regions were created to provide Floridians access to higher education. Today, those institutions and the AFC continue to provide service to those same communities through a multitude of activities, projects, and services year round.

The AFC contributes to numerous organization throughout the year.  AFC members donate their time, plan service events, collect donation items, and hold fundraisers for numerous organizations annually.  Some of them include the United Way, Relay for Life, the March of Dimes, the Boys & Girls Clubs, Early Learning Coalitions, Second Harvest of North Florida, Children's Hospital E-Cards, Make A Difference Pasco, and West Palm Beach VA Fisher House.

Community is a core value of the Association of Florida Colleges. Throughout the state at region and commission meetings and at the annual conference, the AFC highlights an organization to recognize and contribute to as it continues to demonstrate its on-going commitment to providing service in Florida’s communities.
